Summary

Three women。 Three dates。 One missing man。。。

8。52。 Siobhan's been looking forward to her breakfast date with Joseph。 She was surprised when he suggested it - she normally sees him late at night in her hotel room。 Breakfast with Joseph on Valentine's Day surely means something 。。。 so where is he?

14。43。 Miranda's hoping that a Valentine's Day lunch with Carter will be the perfect way to celebrate her new job。 It's a fresh start and a sign that her grown-up life is finally falling into place: she's been dating Carter for five months now and things are getting serious。 But why hasn't he shown up?

18。30。 Joseph Carter agreed to be Jane's fake boyfriend at a colleague's engagement party。 They've not known each other long but their friendship is fast becoming the brightest part of her new life in Winchester。 Joseph promised to save Jane tonight。 But he's not here。。。

Meet Joseph Carter。 That is, if you can find him。

The No-Show is the brilliantly funny, heart-breaking and joyful new novel from Beth O'Leary about dating, and waiting, and the ways love can find us。 An utterly extraordinary tearjerker of a book, this is O'Leary's most ambitious novel yet。

This was such a surprise read。 I didn't know much besides that it was considered a rom-com。 I'm surprised I even started this at all since I really disliked the only other rom-com I have read。 But this story was so well written and the details were so well done。 I found myself sobbing and I was not ready for that。 I will for sure recommend this book to almost anyone。 This was such a surprise read。 I didn't know much besides that it was considered a rom-com。 I'm surprised I even started this at all since I really disliked the only other rom-com I have read。 But this story was so well written and the details were so well done。 I found myself sobbing and I was not ready for that。 I will for sure recommend this book to almost anyone。 。。。more

Conflicted。 Loved some characters and the satisfaction of the reveal at the end, but it felt very disjointed at times。 It would have benefited from less main characters, I think just 2 would have been fine as side characters were hard to keep track of and more development could have happened with more time for the central girls。 There is a lot of Beth O’Leary charm abruptly contrasted with hard and deeply emotional plot points so not the light read you might expect。 Probably a 3。5 star but evil Conflicted。 Loved some characters and the satisfaction of the reveal at the end, but it felt very disjointed at times。 It would have benefited from less main characters, I think just 2 would have been fine as side characters were hard to keep track of and more development could have happened with more time for the central girls。 There is a lot of Beth O’Leary charm abruptly contrasted with hard and deeply emotional plot points so not the light read you might expect。 Probably a 3。5 star but evil goodreads won’t allow that 。。。more

Damn this one was a lot deeper than I thought

This did pull together quite nicely in the end but I had a hard time getting there。 It was boring and tedious for two thirds of the book。 Plus there were too many characters and story lines all at once。

should be a movie。 wish the twist was more apparent because i was not rooting for that man at all, and kept waiting for new love interests to come in for each of the women

feelings were felt and tears were cried

What a weird book this was

I am impressed at how this book is marketed versus the actual story。 Super refreshing!

3。5 ⭐️I enjoyed this book in the last 100 pages or so but it was kinda confusing and boring in the beginning。 I did really like the ending and how everything tied up。

Took be a bit to get into but the last half was AMAZING。 I was crying so hard it was insane。 I actually can’t think about it without tearing up

Well dang, I didn’t expect that ending and it honestly made up for the whole book。 I also liked how it wasn’t like any of her other books。

I only read it because some girl on tiktok said the plot twist made her cry but it wasn't that great and I only realized it was the "big plot twist" after I already passed it LOL。 I wouldn't really call it a plot twist。 I also think it could have been shorter。 It was just ok 👍🏼 I only read it because some girl on tiktok said the plot twist made her cry but it wasn't that great and I only realized it was the "big plot twist" after I already passed it LOL。 I wouldn't really call it a plot twist。 I also think it could have been shorter。 It was just ok 👍🏼 。。。more

Slow start, great finish。 I don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just say I enjoyed the twists of this book! It made me feel many emotions! Somethings I would have done differently but I liked the twists and ending so solid 4!

I don't know that I'd consider this to be very romantic, and maybe that defeats the purpose, but it's intriguing and had me consturcting a mental conspiracy theory board à la Charlie Day which is its own fun。 I don't know that I'd consider this to be very romantic, and maybe that defeats the purpose, but it's intriguing and had me consturcting a mental conspiracy theory board à la Charlie Day which is its own fun。 。。。more

I want to start out by saying that I thought the way this was written was so so clever of Beth O'Leary。 However, it was almost too clever。 I spent most of the book disliking and building Joseph into this villain and when everything clicked into place it was very hard for me to pivot and root for him。 But I loved these women and getting their stories。 Miranda ended up being my favorite perspective。 I want to start out by saying that I thought the way this was written was so so clever of Beth O'Leary。 However, it was almost too clever。 I spent most of the book disliking and building Joseph into this villain and when everything clicked into place it was very hard for me to pivot and root for him。 But I loved these women and getting their stories。 Miranda ended up being my favorite perspective。 。。。more

I have such mixed feelings about this。 It was hard to get through cause this book is just so long and digs into mundane things。 But jeez when the twist comes in it’s so painful and well done it’s hard not to get emotional。 I feel like a lot of people’s main complaint after finishing a book is “it was great, but the ending sucked”… the opposite is true for this book。

Beth O’ Leary didn’t disappoint。

giving it four stars purely for the twist but i wanted to rip my hair out practically the entire time
